Spring Break!
Last year for Spring Break we went to Utah to see my grandparents and some of Craig's family in Provo. This year we decided to go to Arizona to see Craig's sister Wendy and her husband Josh- it was such a nice break! They live in Buckeye, which is outside of Phoenix, and they just bought a nice new house that I got lots of new house decorating ideas from. We spent most of our time just hanging out and relaxing. We also went and looked at a lot of model homes in their division (Wendy informed us this was a favorite past time of theirs, and I have to admit it was quite fun, I thought). The houses out there are dirt cheap! Granted, Buckeye is in the middle of nowhere, basically, but a LOT of new houses are being built in that area and I'm sure in about ten years or so it will be a bustling community and then the house prices will shoot up quite a bit. Seeing those nice big houses with nice big rooms and living areas and kitchens was QUITE tempting, but I have to say that we are content to live in Colorado with it's ridiculously expensive homes for the time being. Not that we are even close to being in a financial position to buy a house right now anyway- plus school is sort of in the way of it all as well. And also Phoenix doesn't have any snow. Although it did rain quite a bit while we were there, which Craig found thouroughly disappointing. He had his heart set on going out and swimming outside in 90 degree weather and getting some sun on his pasty legs, but alas, those dreams were for naught. However, he was quite determined to get his swimming fix in as you can see in these photos. It was too cold for me and Wendy, though. We tried dipping Chloe's feet in, but it started raining again as soon as we did, so we all had to take shelter indoors. She didn't seem to care either way about her brief encounter with a swimming pool. I'm sure we'll have more fun with it this summer, though. We also took a trip to the zoo in Phoenix at my insistant request. It was a beautiful cool Spring Day and we had fun, I though. Chloe seemed to enjoy being outdoors anyway. One of the pictures portrays Chloe as a coach potato: we had all these plans on going outside and doing lots of fun things and all Chloe wanted to do was stay inside and watch TV, the bum! Just kidding, you can't see it in the picture, but Craig's got his arm underneath the blanket and he's holding the remote for her because she couldn't hold it herself. We're all back into the swing of things again, grudgingly, and counting down the days until our next break. :-) In other news we're pretty sure Chloe is teething already. Her gums have been a bit swollen the last couple of days and she's been unusually fussy (for Chloe, which really isn't that fussy at all...or so we like to tell ourselves anyway). She also loves to stick her tongue out quite a bit and it's hard to keep her shirts dry anymore because they're alway sopping with drool. And she's getting more hair and a lot bigger all of a sudden. It's crazy how you just notice it one day. The night before she's one size and then you wake up the next morning and she's noticabley bigger. We'll miss her newborn days, which are long gone, and we'll try to enjoy her current size (although I have a bad habbit of wistfully imagining what she'll be like when she's bigger- I need to remember that I'll start missing the days when she was smaller once she is bigger!). Love you all- Toodles!
